OUR STORY

Olá! Welcome to our shop! 

Founded on the love for our Brazilian culture, Tatu Bola Designs is a clothing store where you find clothing that celebrates the best of Brazil: its environment, music, its food, its language, its people and more. For us, Brazil is where fun and creativity meets faith and resilience. 

In Canada, we are one of the many families of immigrants who chose this beautiful country to start over and have a better life. We love to live here with all the sacrifices it entails, however, we miss our home country and the rich Brazilian culture. Sharing the best of Brazil is the way we found to reduce homesickness. 

We believe that home is not a place. It’s a feeling. That said, our goal is to bring up the best feelings and memories about Brazil through our designs. Every design is a nugget of Brazil. 

Brazilian or not, everything we do here is crafted with love and we hope it resonates with you.

OUR BRAND

At Tatu Bola Designs, we create artwork designed to be applied across a range of products, all inspired by Brazilian culture. From the beginning, we knew our brand needed to be powerful yet simple — something that could seamlessly blend into our designs.

So, when we first started thinking about the name and the logo, we enlisted all that we are passionate about Brazil, and its exuberant environment came in the top 3. About a couple hours of brainstorming later, we caught ourselves talking about one of the most interesting and cutest and unique animals we have back home: tatu bola, which in English is called “The Brazilian three-banded armadillo”.

It is indeed an endemic species, meaning it can only be found in Brazil. He is unique because he has his own armor (how cool is that?) that is slightly looser than that of other armadillos, which allows enough freedom of movement to roll into a ball (crazy huh?). The ears are tucked into the shell and the head and tail interlock to seal the shell completely, allowing thermoregulation (I wish I could do that, especially during Canadian winter). It is the cutest smallest thing. 

Long story short, its adaptability and resilience is just inspiring and are qualities us immigrants have in common. That was it! Tatu Bola was born.
